Espresso Mushroom Company is really new – we only launched our Kitchen Gardens in the summer, and before that have been experimenting with the best ways of growing oyster mushrooms on coffee grounds – none of us are mushrooms farmers by trade, but after hearing the idea thought we should give it a go – so it’s fair to say we’ve learnt a lot in the last 18 months!
This time last year was our breakthrough. We successfully grew (and ate) our first mushrooms at Christmas after months of trial and error. These are some of our first ever coffee grown mushrooms.
We quickly discovered it wasn’t just the concept of growing mushrooms on coffee grounds that was exciting, actually watching them grow is amazing too; they come in all shapes and sizes, no two mushrooms are ever the same (check out some of our Monster Mushrooms here!), sometimes they grow so fast you feel you can actually see them growing, they can be a deep blue, or creamy brown colour and, of course, home grown tastes best!
With these Kitchen Gardens, we hope to share the experience of being a first time mushroom farmer with you all, in a straight forward way that saves you 12 months of trial and error, and gives you a mushroom feast in a couple of weeks time!
