We’re super excited about what January holds for us – not just because we can’t wait to find out how you all get on with your Kitchen Garden Christmas presents, but also because we’re lucky enough to be participating in Brighton’s Second ever Good For Nothing event on 18th – 20th January.
Good for Nothing is a community of thinkers, do-ers, makers and tinkerers applying their skills and energy to accelerate the work of cause-led innovators and change makers; it’s about diverse groups of people collaborating together, working in new, faster, fun and better ways by supporting ideas and people that are leading the way to what a flourishing 21st century society might look like.
They like to get stuff done – here’s how
1. Doing, not talking (we could all learn from that!)
2. Collaborate and experiment
3. Support the true innovators
At Espresso Mushroom Company, we’re a super small outfit, founded less than a year ago, with just the 4 of us spending as much time on it as we can. We’re all in it for the love of the mushies and the genuinely innovative and environmental business we’re working on – upcycling coffee grounds into tasty oyster mushrooms and Kitchen Gardens.
To maximise our environmental impact we need to increase our scale – which is driven by demand, so the boost this weekend will give us will be massively important in achieving this.
Good For Nothing are particularly looking for internet geeks, coders, wordpress experts, people who know how to pimp up a facebook as well as designers, and other creative types who are prepared to get their hands dirty for the weekend!
We’ve had a think about a few things we’d like to achieve from the weekend, it breaks down like this
1) The Gift of Mushrooms all year round – like a puppy, not just for Christmas!
2) Word of Mouth
It’s not just mushrooms all weekend – there are 2 other great causes too:
– Greens Pet Emporium: can we create a creative learning and writing space for Brighton’s children?
– The Bevy: Can we help raise cash for and design a new community space for Bevendean and Moulsecoomb?
In return we can promise a weekend working with great people, music and food, and most of all the massive buzz of making a whole lot of good things happen in a single weekend.
Hope to see you there!
